in other news degrassi the next generation is looking quite promising. it's on all the time and i've never seen any of the episodes before so it's all new.

i really think the oc could take some cues from degrassi next generation. first more drama in the shows. more gay characters hiding their true sexual orientation. more cheating couples. more lame pronouncements of love. more people who are dying of cancer. second the oc needs more action per show. in one episode of degrassi that i watched yesterday a boy pronounced his love for his girlfriend with a song, another character flirted with a friends older brother, gf told bf he was going to get laid, gf accused him of telling everyone that he was getting laid and called it off, bf makes out with another girl who is also dating someone from the show. oh and there was a secret admirer sub-plot going on the whole episode. all of this happened in a half-hour making the oc seem like about as energetic and exciting as comic book guy. finally the oc needs to expand their cast of characters. luke/anna/oliver were all good but they need to be around for longer periods of time. in degrassi characters drop in and out of episodes all the time. they have a huge cast of characters that are featured in some actors but just in crowd/classroom scenes in other episodes. characters that you know in the background really helps you feel like degrassi is really happening somewhere. the oc does beat degrassi in the critical hot girls/music/jokes categories.
