i know this may sound crazy to you but we celebrate hallowe'en too in canada, but it's a bit different. instead of dressing up as monsters/clowns/etc everyone dresses up as either a beaver or a lumberjack. of course when the kids go house to house "trick or treating" they collect wood instead of candy, occasionally full logs if they get lucky. occasionaly gang style beaver vs. lumberjack fights will break out where the parties involved fight for each others wood stockpiles. usually the lumberjacks win these fights, given that they have axes, but occasionally a beaver manages to bite someone's leg off and then the lumberjacks generally get freaked out and give up. it's been getting a bit crazy in the last couple years and the governments trying to control it more these days but it's such an ingrained part of canadian culture it's difficult.
